The opportunity

Job Description

Petersburg Healthcare Center is seeking an RN Wound/Treatment Nurse to provide specialized wound care and treatment services to residents in our long-term care facility. This role focuses on performing wound treatments, dressing changes, and other clinical interventions while maintaining infection control standards and following physician orders.

Clinical Setting

Petersburg Healthcare Center is a skilled nursing and long-term care facility located in Petersburg, Virginia. We are part of the CommuniCare Family of Companies, a national leader operating more than 105 facilities across Ohio, Indiana, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all treatments, dressing changes, ointments, sprays, lotions, and related wound care on all residents following center policy, procedures, resident privacy requirements, infection control standards, and physician orders
  • Perform routine monthly replacements of gastric tubes and Foley catheters as assigned
  • Perform tracheostomy care and suctioning
  • Document treatment recommendations at least weekly in nurse notes, skin grids, pressure sore reports, and other required documents
  • Recommend treatment procedures or products to attending physicians
  • Reorder treatment supplies from pharmacy or central supply as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Current active RN license in the state of Virginia
  • Current CPR certification
  • Prior work or life experience, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Prior experience in treatment nursing care is desirable

Preferred Qualifications

  • Wound care certification
  • ACLS certification
  • Prior supervisory experience in a long-term care center
