This position is a Registered Nurse specializing in wound care, responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, treatment planning, and care coordination in a specialty wound care setting. You will work under physician supervision to deliver high-quality patient care, manage wound treatments, coordinate multidisciplinary care plans, and provide patient and family education.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate patient care activities using the nursing process
- Complete and document initial patient history, physical examination, and chart documentation within 24 hours of initial appointment
- Perform thorough assessment of patients before and after wound care treatment according to department policy and procedures
- Initiate, update, and document multidisciplinary plans of care addressing medical, psychosocial, and spiritual needs
- Evaluate patient response to care, revise the plan of care as necessary, and document appropriately
- Administer and document medications and treatments safely and effectively
- Assist the physician with treatments and procedures
- Recognize changes or urgent situations in patient condition and intervene appropriately
- Provide patient and family education regarding treatment plans, diagnostic and surgical procedures, disease processes, and post-discharge care, with strong emphasis on nutrition
- Obtain required signed consent forms and document teaching while considering age, cultural and religious beliefs, and learning barriers
- Evaluate the effectiveness of patient teaching and provide appropriate follow-up
- Participate in obtaining required documentation and improving processes to ensure full reimbursement for services
- Provide leadership and direction to LPNs, technicians, and other associates as indicated
- Complete all assigned tasks and documentation accurately within set timeframes, including AED checks, autoclave maintenance, glucometer calibration, and HBO chamber list management
- Maintain treatment rooms according to policy, keep supplies stocked and organized, and reorder supplies as needed
- Manage patient and physician correspondence, including scheduling appointments, rescheduling patients, processing referrals, and scheduling tests and procedures
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Nursing
- RN License in state of employment or compact license
- BLS certification
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 to 3 years of nursing experience
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
- Part-time position
