RN Registered Nurse New Graduate Trauma Ortho Acute Care Unit

Banner Health is hiring RN new graduates for a 21-bed Acute Care unit at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center in Sun City West, Arizona. As an RN New Graduate on the Med-Surg-4C unit, you will care for Ortho, Trauma, and General Overflow patients in a Progress-In-Place environment serving both Medical Surgical and Progressive Care acuity patients. This is a full-time, night shift position (7pm-7:30am) that is part of Banner Health's New Nurse Experience (NNE) Program, which has received the highest accreditation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Practice Transition Accreditation Program (PTAP).

About the New Nurse Experience Program

The NNE Program is designed to transition new graduates from nursing school into fully competent, professional nurses. You will work in a collaborative learning environment with clinical mentorship, hands-on training, and multiple career pathway opportunities. The program expects you to remain on your assigned unit for at least 12 months to gain comprehensive training experience. You must live within a reasonable commute distance of the facility.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs
• Review patient history, physical examination, diagnostics, and laboratory data; report abnormal results to physicians and appropriate caregivers
• Formulate and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team
• Provide direct patient care based on physician orders and nursing plans of care in compliance with policies, procedures, and standards of care
• Delegate appropriately and provide nursing supervision to other licensed nurses and healthcare personnel
• Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as needed
• Document assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a timely and accurate manner
• Participate in unit or facility shared leadership and contribute to quality improvement initiatives
• Interact and collaborate with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external healthcare contacts

• Orientation to the Cerner electronic medical health record system
• Patient care skills lab with hands-on equipment experience

Schedule

• Night shift: 7pm-7:30am
• Most new nurses work three 12-hour shifts per week
• Weekend and holiday rotations required

Required Qualifications

• Recent or upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program
• Current BLS card (American Heart Association, Red Cross, or ASHI) or ability to obtain certification before start date
• No more than 12 months of RN experience
• Current, valid RN license in Arizona, temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure for Arizona

Preferred Qualifications

• Active RN license
• Previous clinical healthcare experience
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
• Professional certification

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time, benefitted, and paid position. Compensation includes a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential and an 18% night shift differential when applicable. All New Grad RN positions are eligible for Banner Health's Total Rewards Compensation Package, which includes health, dental, and vision insurance (if desired), PTO and sick time accrual, and 401(k) matching. Benefits begin the first of the month following your start date.
