This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive perinatal nursing care in a Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (LDRP) setting. As an RN in this role, you will care for patients throughout the childbirth experience, managing routine and complex clinical situations with independence and clinical judgment. You will work the night shift (7 PM - 7 AM) on a part-time basis.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
- Address the psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
- Administer medications and treatments according to protocol; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assess patient and family learning needs and provide appropriate education
- Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed to manage clinical situations
- Meet expectations of OneCHRISTUS Competencies aligned with your level of practice
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in the state of employment or compact state
- Current BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross)
- Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
- Current certification in one of the following: AWHONN Intermediate FHM, AWHONN Intermediate FHM Instructor, AWHONN Advanced FHM Instructor, AWHONN Instructor Trainer, or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
- Current STABLE (Post-resuscitation/Pre-transport Stabilization Care of Sick Infants) certification from one of the following courses: Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
- One year of experience in perinatal nursing or related specialty
- Recent experience practicing in a perinatal setting
- Completion of a Perinatal RN Residency program
Onboarding and Competency Requirements
- All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire
- New hires will be precepted by a designated trained staff member
- Initial on-boarding requirements are validated through successful completion of organizational entry competency validation and Perinatal Services-specific competency validation
- Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is required
Credential Grace Periods
If you are an Experienced Associate (at least one year of acute care clinical experience in a similar service line within the past three years), credential grace periods are:
- ACLS: within 30 days of hire
- NRP: within 30 days of hire
- AWHONN Intermediate FHM: within 30 days of hire
- STABLE: within 30 days of hire
If you are a New Graduate or Experienced Associate New to the Specialty (less than one year of full-time acute care clinical experience in the same service line within the past three years), grace periods are:
- ACLS: within 90 days of hire
- NRP: within 60 days of hire
- AWHONN Intermediate FHM: within 60 days of hire
- STABLE: within 60 days of hire
