RN, Registered Nurse - IMC MedSurg A

This position is for a Registered Nurse in the IMC MedSurg A unit, a medical-surgical intermediate care setting. You will provide routine and complex nursing care to assigned patients, managing both straightforward and contingent clinical situations. You will work the night shift (7 PM to 7 AM) as a full-time employee.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
• Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families according to your level of practice
• Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
• Assess patient and family learning needs and provide education; identify issues and resources
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers to manage the clinical situation
• Meet expectations of OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of employment or compact state
• BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross) required at time of hire
• ACLS certification required

Education

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred

Experience

• One year of experience in a related nursing specialty preferred

Onboarding and Competency Requirements

• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire
• New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member
• Initial on-boarding requirements are validated through successful completion of designated organizational entry competency validation and MedSurg-specific competency validation
• All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation
• Skills and competency completion will be achieved with the preceptor at the bedside and documented through the program's tracking software
• Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is required

Credential Grace Periods

• Experienced Associates (those with at least one year of acute care clinical experience in a similar service line within the past three years) must obtain ACLS within 30 days of hire
• New Graduates and Experienced Associates New to the Specialty must obtain ACLS within 90 days of hire
