We are seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) team. The ICU RN provides comprehensive, evidence-based care to critically ill patients with complex medical and surgical conditions. This full-time contract position is based in Simi Valley, CA and requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with the Epic electronic medical record system.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for critically ill patients
  • Continuously monitor patient status and respond promptly to changes in condition
  • Administer medications, blood products, and treatments in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies
  • Operate and monitor advanced life-support equipment, including mechanical ventilators, cardiac monitors, infusion pumps, and CRRT equipment as applicable
  • Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans
  • Accurately document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes using the Epic EMR system
  • Participate in rapid response and code blue situations as required
  • Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions when appropriate
  • Maintain compliance with infection prevention, patient safety, and regulatory standards
  • Serve as a patient advocate while promoting quality care and positive patient outcomes

Required Qualifications

  • Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Minimum of one year of recent ICU nursing experience in an acute care hospital
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Current experience using the Epic electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Strong critical thinking, clinical assessment, and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification
  • Experience caring for patients requiring ventilator management, vasoactive infusions, and hemodynamic monitoring
  • Experience with CRRT, ECMO, or advanced critical care therapies
  • Trauma, Neuro ICU, Cardiovascular ICU, or Surgical ICU experience

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move patients throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance when necessary
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments as required
