We are seeking a Registered Nurse for our Emergency Room. In this role, you will provide routine and complex nursing care to patients in a fast-paced clinical environment. You will practice independently while demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of patient situations, manage long-range care goals, and develop the ability to handle clinical contingencies. You will make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed to manage clinical situations effectively.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
- Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with your level of practice
- Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness
- Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
- Assess patient learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and resources
- Meet expectations of applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders
- Practice consistently with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice
Required Qualifications
- Active RN license in state of employment or compact
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (AHA or Red Cross) required at time of hire
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing
- One year of experience in emergency nursing or related nursing specialty
Certifications and Grace Periods
Depending on your experience level, you will have grace periods to obtain additional certifications:
For Experienced Associates (at least one year of acute care clinical experience in a similar service line within the past three years):
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): within 30 days of hire
- Pediatric Life Support (PALS): within 30 days of hire
- Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC): within 60 days of hire
- Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR): within 60 days of hire
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP): within 30 days of hire
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM): within 30 days of hire
- STABLE (Neonatal Education): within 30 days of hire
For New Graduates and Experienced Associates New to the Specialty:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS): within 90 days of hire
- Pediatric Life Support (PALS): within 90 days of hire
- Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC): within 18 months of hire
- Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR): within 18 months of hire
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP): within 60 days of hire
- AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM): within 60 days of hire
- STABLE (Neonatal Education): within 60 days of hire
