CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi - Shoreline is the largest acute care medical facility in the region, offering a full range of diagnostic and surgical specialty services. This position is based in the Operating Room (OR), providing nursing care in a state-of-the-art surgical environment within the Pavilion and North Tower.

As a Registered Nurse in the OR, you will practice independently while demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of the surgical setting. You will provide routine and complex perioperative care, manage contingencies of clinical nursing, and make appropriate assignments and delegations to support the surgical team and patient care.

Clinical Setting

The facility is a teaching hospital affiliated with the Texas A&M University System Health and Science Center College of Medicine. The OR is part of a comprehensive acute care medical center with specialty services in cardiac, cancer, and stroke care, supported by a Level II Trauma Center and state-of-the-art diagnostic capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients
  • Address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with your level of practice
  • Administer medications and treatments using appropriate protocol; monitor for side effects and treatment effectiveness
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided
  • Assess patient learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identify issues and resources

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license in the state of employment or compact state
  • BLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in nursing
  • One year of experience in a related nursing specialty

Schedule

  • PRN (per diem as needed)
