The opportunity

Job Description

Jupiter Medical Center is seeking a Per Diem RN for the PICC Team. This role focuses on the insertion, maintenance, and management of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs). You will work in a hospital setting ranked #1 for Safety, Quality, and Patient Satisfaction in Palm Beach County and the greater Treasure Coast.

As a PICC RN, you will serve as an educator to peers, patients, and families while delivering evidence-based nursing care. You will apply nursing process and theories in assessing, planning, diagnosing, implementing, evaluating, and modifying patient care. This position requires autonomous practice within professional nursing standards, the ANA Code of Ethics, and the ANA Bill of Rights.

Responsibilities

  • Perform PICC insertions, maintenance, and management
  • Act as an educator to peers, patients, and families
  • Apply nursing process and evidence-based practices in patient care
  • Ensure practice is in accordance with competency requirements for the specialty
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
  • Provide collaborative care with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Coordinate with the interdisciplinary team to enhance patient care and outcomes
  • Identify and communicate needed unit resources and equipment for budget planning
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN licensure in the state of Florida
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers
  • ACLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers
  • Two years of nursing experience in an acute care hospital setting
  • Two years of PICC experience

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (BSN preferred)

Physical Requirements

This position can be physically demanding, requiring stooping, sitting, standing, and walking for long periods. You will frequently assist with lifting patients and heavy equipment. You must be able to work in a stressful environment, work independently, make sound decisions, remain detail-oriented, alert, and self-motivated. You must be able to push and pull up to 40 pounds and carry and lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Annual Joint Commission mandatory education requirements
  • In-service and health requirements including attendance at new employee orientation
  • TB/PPD Surveillance Program participation
  • Maintenance of required professional licensing and certifications on a yearly basis
