St. Charles Health System is seeking a full-time RN for our Operating Room in Redmond. This position provides perioperative nursing care in a 3-room OR department that averages 145 general, orthopedic, and gynecological surgeries per month. As a community hospital, you will have the opportunity to support a variety of service lines while working as part of a close-knit care team.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient conditions and needs using critical thinking and clinical judgment
  • Set patient outcomes and implement appropriate nursing actions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
  • Address patients' physical, emotional, spiritual, social, and intellectual needs
  • Evaluate patient progress throughout the perioperative experience
  • Calculate dosages and administer medications accurately according to hospital policies and procedures
  • Document all patient care with proficiency in compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain a safe environment for caregivers, patients, and guests
  • Oversee the work of other caregivers as required under RN scope of practice
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement and departmental activities
  • Communicate effectively with caregivers, medical staff, patients, and families
  • Provide therapeutic presence and intentional relationships that enhance the care experience
  • Perform stand-by callback as assigned

Clinical Setting

The Operating Room is part of St. Charles Health System's perioperative services. You will work in a collaborative environment supporting general, orthopedic, and gynecological surgical procedures.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Oregon RN license
  • AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider certification
  • ACLS certification within 60 days of hire
  • One year of Operating Room experience (completion of St. Charles Health System Perioperative 101 or equivalent may be considered)
  • Call required on a rotating basis
  • Ability to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with diverse populations
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills
  • Strong teamwork and collaborative skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Basic to intermediate ability with computer applications, specifically electronic medical records systems and MS Office

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Department-specific acute care certification (such as CNOR)
  • Scrubbing experience

Physical Requirements

  • Continually (75% or more): Standing and walking, keyboard operation, clear and audible speaking voice, ability to hear normal speech level
  • Frequently (50%): Sitting, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 1-25 pounds
  • Occasionally (25%): Bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching overhead, grasping/squeezing, ability to hear whispered speech
  • Rarely (10%): Climbing stairs, exposure to wet/slippery areas, exposure to chemical solutions
  • Never: Climbing ladders or step-stools, lifting/carrying/pushing or pulling 25-50 pounds, operation of a motor vehicle
  • Risk for exposure to blood-borne pathogens

Schedule

  • Full-time, variable schedule
  • 40 hours per week
  • May include weekends, holidays, and call
  • Shift times: 0645-1715
  • Call required on a rotating basis
