RN Operating Room Registered Nurse Internship Program - November Cohort

AdventHealth Winter Garden is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Operating Room Internship Program, a full-time position designed to develop clinical expertise in the surgical setting. This internship provides structured training and mentorship in perioperative nursing, supporting surgical teams in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the operating room at AdventHealth Winter Garden, supporting surgical procedures and working alongside surgeons, scrub technicians, and interdisciplinary surgical teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide emotional support to patients and families, demonstrating AdventHealth's commitment to compassionate, whole-person care
• Support surgical teams by preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies
• Maintain sterility in the surgical field and anticipate the needs of surgeons and scrub technicians
• Assist in specimen collection, labeling, and handling according to AdventHealth policies
• Participate in counts (sponges, sharps, instruments) to ensure patient safety
• Demonstrate respect for co-workers and develop positive working relationships with other departments and personnel
• Consider factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in the delivery of nursing services
• Maintain safe practice by demonstrating unit-specific clinical competency and compliance with all regulatory standards
• Ensure safe and effective handoff communications and documentation between caregivers
• Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule

• Full-time, Monday through Friday
• 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Nursing
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• One or more years of RN experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing
• Prior surgical or operating room experience

Additional Requirements

Certain positions are subject to Florida Level 2 background screening, including fingerprinting, as required by state law.
