Allegheny Health Network is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room at Jefferson. In this role, you will provide direct patient care in a surgical setting, assessing patient responses and planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for individuals and families. You will be fully responsible for all actions as a licensed nurse and accountable to patients for the quality of care delivered.
Responsibilities
- Assess human responses and develop individualized patient plans of care according to physician orders, nursing judgment, and hospital policy
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, evaluate, and implement care based on individual patient needs
- Derive culturally and age-appropriate expected outcomes involving the patient, family, and other healthcare providers
- Analyze patient health status and compare data with norms to determine care needs
- Assess and document changes in patient condition, notify physicians and supervisors, and intervene appropriately
- Assign or delegate tasks based on patient needs and the skill level of RN, LPN, or support staff
- Supervise and evaluate assigned LPN scope of practice as appropriate
- Provide transformational leadership by helping colleagues succeed through role modeling and mentoring
- Provide peers with verbal and written feedback regarding clinical practice and role performance
- Share knowledge and skills with colleagues and cultivate a work environment that promotes positive attitudes, effective communication, trust, and collaboration
- Promote patient safety initiatives, including National Patient Safety Goals
- Participate in department-specific quality initiatives and ensure appropriate order sets are used
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to evaluate clinical care and health services
- Accept assignments in areas other than your primary unit and perform duties within individualized competency
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous lifelong learning and professional development
- Participate in systematic peer review and obtain informal feedback from patients, peers, and colleagues
- Place the patient at the center of everything you do by continuously evaluating patient and family satisfaction and serving as an advocate

- Utilize effective time management to complete assigned duties within your work shift
- Meet time and attendance guidelines per hospital policy
Required Qualifications
- Current State of Pennsylvania RN licensure OR current multi-state licensure through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC)
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- CPR certification
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in area of specialty
