RN - Operating Room (Gen, GYN, Urology w/Robots)

Memorial Hermann is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room to deliver safe, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment. This role focuses on general surgery, gynecology, and urology procedures, including robotic-assisted surgeries, with secondary exposure to ENT, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and ophthalmology.

You will collaborate with an interdisciplinary surgical team to provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care, including patient assessments, assistance with surgical procedures and exams, patient education, and maintenance of medical records. You will coordinate care planning with the surgical team and participate in continuous quality improvement and process optimization.

Schedule

• Hours: 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
• On-call duties required on a rotational basis
• Holiday call and work assignments on a rotational basis

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe and appropriate surgical nursing care according to patient age, acuity, and clinical needs
• Conduct nursing assessments and assist with surgical exams and procedures
• Coordinate perioperative care planning with the interdisciplinary surgical team
• Implement clinical decisions and evidence-based care standards
• Collaborate with and may delegate to healthcare team members to achieve positive patient outcomes
• Coordinate treatment plans and develop discharge or transfer plans as needed
• Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to all Memorial Hermann policies and procedures
• Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and program evaluation
• Provide patient education and optimize patient experience throughout the surgical continuum
• Maintain productivity and quality standards within budgetary specifications
• Support professional growth through continuing education and skills competency requirements
• May serve as preceptor, mentor, or resource to less experienced nursing staff

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing
• Current Texas RN license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Ability to work collaboratively within the Partners-in-Caring culture

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Previous operating room nursing experience
• Strong experience in general surgery, gynecology, and urology with robotic procedures
• Experience in secondary service areas including ENT, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and ophthalmology

Experience Levels

Memorial Hermann hires RNs based on years of experience. Candidates may be considered at the following levels:

• RN I: Newly licensed (working under RN clinical preceptor supervision)
• RN II: Less than 1 year to 3 years
• RN III: 3 to 10 years
• RN IV: 10 or more years
