We are seeking a Registered Nurse for our Operating Room to join our surgical team. This is a full-time position at a fast-paced ambulatory surgery center specializing in total joint replacement procedures. The facility operates two operating rooms and is open Monday through Friday, day shift only.
Clinical Setting
This role is based in an intraoperative surgical environment where you will deliver patient care through the nursing process during the surgical phase. You will work in a focused specialty center dedicated to orthopedic total joint replacement surgery.
Responsibilities
- Assess physiological and psychosocial health status of patients
- Assess and document patient pain per policy
- Complete patient history and verbally report pertinent information to appropriate staff
- Legibly document information in patient records using appropriate professional title
- Assess patient understanding and expectations of care
- Identify desired patient outcomes and establish nursing diagnoses
- Establish mutually acceptable patient and family goals
- Formulate and implement individualized nursing care plans
- Assess situations and problem-solve effectively
- Respond to emergencies
- Practice within legal and ethical guidelines including the Nurse Practice Act, legal statutes, ANA Code for Nurses, and facility policies
- Demonstrate accountability through flexibility and safe judgment
- Continually adjust care plans based on patient and family data
- Demonstrate proper preoperative communication and reporting
- Perform and document proper surgical case counting procedures
- Maintain proper aseptic technique throughout procedures
- Demonstrate efficient operating room turnover time
- Obtain blood products using proper technique
- Verify proper patient identification per policy
- Ensure proper surgical site identification and marking per policy
- Anticipate surgeon's needs during surgical procedures
- Participate in a professional nursing organization
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification
- Comprehensive professional knowledge and skills in conformance with recognized nursing standards and department policies
- Ability to assess and problem-solve
- Ability to work within legal and ethical guidelines
