The opportunity

Job Description

Join Nebraska Medicine's Fritch Surgery Center as a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room. In this full-time position, you will provide, prescribe, delegate, and coordinate nursing care with other healthcare providers to meet the holistic care needs of patients in a procedurally driven environment. You will play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care through collaboration with an interdisciplinary team.

Schedule

  • First Shift
  • Full-time, 1.0 FTE with benefits eligibility

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in nursing (ADN) or nursing diploma
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Nebraska or a current compact state
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) endorsed program (required for new hires starting January 1, 2023 or later)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification (department dependent)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 6 months of hire or transfer date (department dependent)
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN) within one year of hire or transfer date (department dependent)
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct patient care experience
  • Prior experience in perioperative nursing, special procedures, cardiology, cardiac drip management, critical care, emergency department, medical-surgical nursing, obstetrics, cardiovascular rehabilitation, telemetry, oncology, neonatal intensive care, pediatric acute care, solid organ transplant, cath lab, or EP lab
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN) or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN)
  • Specialty training courses such as STABLE, smoking cessation counseling, or basic critical care
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Proficiency with email applications
  • Proficiency with departmental equipment and systems including patient care equipment, telecommunication systems, information systems, pneumatic tube systems, general patient care supplies, and transport equipment
