Memorial Hermann is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room to provide safe and professional nursing care in a fast-paced surgical environment. This role focuses primarily on ENT, OMF/Dental, and Ophthalmology procedures, with secondary exposure to General, GYN, Urology, and Robotics cases.
You will collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care using the nursing process. Your responsibilities will include conducting nursing assessments, assisting with exams and treatments, providing patient education, and maintaining accurate medical records. You will coordinate care planning with an interdisciplinary team, implement clinical decisions, and ensure positive patient outcomes based on evidence and professional standards.
Schedule
- Hours: 10:30 AM - 11:00 PM
- Call required on a rotational basis
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe and appropriate care to patients according to nursing skills inventory and patient needs
- Coordinate nursing care planning with an interdisciplinary team
- Collaborate with, direct, and delegate to healthcare team members to achieve positive outcomes
- Coordinate treatment plans and develop/implement discharge and transfer plans
- Participate in program evaluation, process improvement, and quality initiatives
- Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to all Memorial Hermann policies and budgetary specifications
- Promote professional growth through continuing education and skills competency
- Serve as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff
- Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice and clinical competency
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing
- Current State of Texas RN license or temporary/compact license
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Experience level: RN I (less than 1 year), RN II (1-3 years), RN III (3-10 years), or RN IV (10+ years)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Operating Room experience
- Knowledge of or willingness to expand knowledge in ENT, OMF/Dental, and Ophthalmology service lines
Additional Requirements
- Additional certifications may be required based on discipline and/or nursing unit requirements
- Adherence to all regulatory and Texas Board of Nursing standards
