RN Nurse Extern

Meadowview Regional Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Extern to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This PRN position is ideal for nursing students nearing completion of their degree who want to gain practical clinical experience in an acute care setting.

Clinical Setting

Meadowview Regional Medical Center is a 100-bed, acute care facility in Maysville, Kentucky, accredited by The Joint Commission and recognized as one of the top 100 hospitals in the country.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction, delegation, and supervision of a Registered Nurse
• Document patient care provided
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition to the supervising RN as appropriate
• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation
• Maintain positive professional relationships with patients, families, coworkers, and the healthcare team
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual or psychosocial support needs
• Evaluate patient and family learning needs and provide education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances
• Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of patients

Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an approved school of nursing as a third-year student or higher
• Expected to graduate within 13 months of hire
• In good standing with the approved school of nursing
• Clinically competent to perform required duties
• Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BCLS) certification
