Sovah Health - Danville is seeking an RN Charge Nurse for our 10-room Operating Room surgical suite. In this leadership role, you will supervise and mentor nursing and support staff, manage staffing assignments, and provide direct patient care as needed. You will work across a wide range of surgical specialties including orthopedics, general surgery, OB/GYN, urology, ENT, spine, and pulmonary procedures. Our surgical suite utilizes advanced technology including Mako and da Vinci robotic systems.
Clinical Setting
Sovah Health - Danville is a 250-bed academic acute care hospital recognized by the American College of Cardiology (Chest Pain Center & Heart Failure), American College of Surgeons' Commission on Cancer, and is a member of the Duke Heart Network and Duke Telestroke Network. Our surgical team includes 17 surgeons utilizing block time, and many nurses on the unit have 15+ years of experience with mentorship and hands-on training readily available.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and mentor nursing and support staff during assigned shifts
- Determine staffing levels and assignments based on availability, abilities, census, acuity, and workflow
- Provide direct patient care as needed and take patient assignments to meet staffing needs
- Float between staff to assist with problem-solving
- Evaluate effectiveness of patient care and identify issues affecting outcomes
- Respond to patient care complaints and manage them through established channels
- Enter orders, perform admissions and discharges, and coordinate transfers
- Ensure staff have necessary equipment and supplies to provide safe, quality care
- Integrate evidence-based practices into operations and protocols
- Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth
- Participate in performance improvement and continuing education
Schedule
- Monday through Friday, typically 8-hour shifts
- Rotating call schedule
- Schedule subject to change based on department and patient care needs
Compensation
- Hourly range: $34.04 - $45.96

Required Qualifications
- Active Virginia RN license (single-state) or compact license
- Associate's degree in nursing
- Bachelor's degree
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification
- Four or more years of RN experience
- Operating Room leadership experience
