Job Description

Watertown Health Care Center, a skilled nursing facility in Watertown, Wisconsin, is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide direct resident care and clinical leadership. In this role, you will assess residents, develop individualized nursing care plans, supervise nursing personnel, coordinate with physicians, and ensure residents receive compassionate, high-quality care in accordance with state, federal, and corporate guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Take an active role in direct resident assessment and care
  • Supervise and coordinate nursing personnel in providing direct resident care in adherence to state, federal, and corporate guidelines
  • Formulate individualized nursing care plans utilizing the nursing process
  • Assess each resident each shift and implement changes in the course of care as needed
  • Assist the physician on rounds and ensure pertinent information is communicated to and from the physician; take orders correctly
  • Participate in the training and supervision of nursing personnel
  • Utilize general principles of leadership and supervision
  • Manage conflict through effective problem-solving and communication skills
  • Act calmly and efficiently in handling emergency situations
  • Prepare daily assignments of duties, treatments, and miscellaneous tasks
  • Identify potential safety hazards and noncompliance with corporate guidelines
  • Maintain accurate resident care records and document pertinent data reflecting the nursing process
  • Attend and participate productively in resident care meetings, staff meetings, and in-services
  • Teach residents, families, and staff through formal or informal presentations
  • Dispense medication and perform treatments as per physician's order in accordance with policies, procedures, and licensure standards of practice
  • Promptly notify each resident's attending physician and family or responsible party of any significant change in the resident's health condition
  • Ensure residents and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere
  • Interact professionally with customers, families, visitors, facility, and corporate personnel
  • Carry out additional tasks as requested, including hands-on intervention and participation
  • Perform additional duties as requested

Schedule and Shifts

  • Flexible 8-hour shifts
  • May be required to work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends
  • May be required to work in different units and positions
  • May be required to work overtime as facility needs require

Required Qualifications

  • Current valid Registered Nurse license issued in the state where you will practice
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing
  • Up-to-date physical assessment skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing principles
  • Annual verification of a negative TB skin test

Preferred Qualifications

  • Recent experience in geriatric or rehabilitative nursing
  • Experience in a supervisory capacity
