Registered Nurse - Vascular Operating Room - RN

Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Vascular Operating Room. In this role, you will circulate and coordinate the surgical team in all aspects of operating room activities, providing perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing vascular procedures. You may also be asked to scrub as needed and will function as the patient's advocate.

Mayo Clinic's state-of-the-art Jacksonville hospital includes 34 operating rooms, featuring an IMRI OR suite and a dedicated endovascular OR suite equipped with modern technology and advanced equipment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care
• Support professional nursing practice across practice settings and the continuum of care
• Function within the Mayo Nursing Care Model, planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients
• Provide leadership through preceptor roles, informal and formal leadership activities, and quality improvement efforts
• Delegate patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills, mentor and teach colleagues, and may participate on committees or projects

Clinical Setting

• 34 operating rooms including IMRI OR suite and dedicated endovascular OR suite
• State-of-the-art facility with modern equipment and advanced technologies

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of a nursing program (associate degree, diploma, or baccalaureate)
• Current RN license by applicable state requirements
• Current BLS certification through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross, required upon hire and maintained thereafter
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Experience working in a team environment
• Computer skills required; prior experience with electronic medical record systems preferred
• Ability to work flexible hours, including days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends with on-call duties
• Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations within the work setting
• Demonstrated leadership, effective communication, and excellent critical thinking skills
• Must live within a reasonable driving distance to campus to meet 45-minute on-call requirement

Education

• All associate degree or diploma RNs hired after April 1, 2020, must provide documented evidence of program completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited program within 5 years from the last day of the month of their RN start date
• All entry-level associate degree RNs hired prior to April 1, 2020, must provide documented evidence of program completion of a baccalaureate degree in nursing as stipulated by the degree requirement program in place at time of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree in nursing
• One year of RN experience in an applicable care setting
• Prior experience with electronic medical record systems
• Additional specialty certification or training as required by the work area

Schedule

• Full-time position
• 72 hours per pay period
• Monday-Friday; 0645-1915, days vary with call rotation requirements
• Call rotation includes weekends, nights, and holidays
