Rhode Island Hospital seeks a Registered Nurse for the Trauma ICU. In this role, you will provide direct patient care to trauma patients under the supervision of the Clinical Manager, implementing nursing care using the nursing process and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies. You will care for patients throughout the life span, considering developmental stages, aging processes, and cultural patterns from admission through discharge.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to trauma ICU patients
- Delegate, supervise, and participate in safe nursing care activities provided by ancillary personnel
- Evaluate the effectiveness of patient care and identify opportunities for improvement
- Collaborate with the healthcare team, patient, family, and community services regarding patient care outcomes and discharge planning
- Assess patient and family needs and provide appropriate teaching
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement and research activities
- Utilize available resources to provide quality, cost-effective patient care
- Meet and maintain clinical competencies as measured by predetermined credentialing standards and mandatory safety education
- Identify growth needs and participate in educational opportunities and professional organizations
- Serve as a role model and preceptor to new graduate nurses and less experienced personnel
- Assume charge nurse responsibility for the patient care unit as delegated
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse license in the State of Rhode Island issued by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing, or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Current ACLS/PALS certification as appropriate
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span, with consideration of aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns
- Visual and aural ability to monitor patient status
- Physical ability to assist in lifting and positioning patients
- Physical ability for extensive walking and standing; lifting, positioning, and pushing patients on stretchers

Schedule
- Night shift: 1900-0730
- Every other weekend
- Every other holiday
Compensation
- Pay range: $35.56-$59.99 per hour
