The opportunity

Job Description

Sheppard Pratt School and Residential Treatment Center in Towson, Maryland is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care to students ages 12-18 with emotional and behavioral challenges. This is a weekend-only position at a Maryland State Department of Education approved, level V nonpublic school that offers year-round therapeutic educational and residential programming.

Clinical Setting

The school is located on a historic campus in Towson and serves as a residential treatment center with full-day special and general education schooling. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team in a therapeutic educational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to students with various medical needs
  • Administer medications and provide wound care and first aid
  • Coordinate with caregivers to provide medical treatment as indicated by each student's health needs and history
  • Support the school psychiatrist in medication management
  • Maintain cumulative and comprehensive documentation for each student's health record
  • Promote the health and well-being of students, ensuring access to quality medical care and support

Schedule

Weekends only.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in nursing
  • Valid license to practice nursing in the State of Maryland as a Registered Nurse (RN)

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year of working experience in a school setting

Note for New Graduates

Registered Nurses with less than one year of experience will automatically be placed in Sheppard Pratt's Nurse Residency Program.
