Registered Nurse, Step Down - Intermediate Care Unit

Sentara CarePlex Hospital is recruiting a Registered Nurse for the Step Down Unit/Intermediate Care Unit in Hampton, VA. This 24-bed unit serves as the designated Stroke Center and provides care for patients with a variety of acute and intermediate healthcare needs, including respiratory compromise, vasoactive infusions, and conditions such as DKA, CHF, and pneumonia.

Responsibilities

• Assess and admit patients to the unit
• Perform rounding checks and monitor patient status
• Administer medications and manage medication therapy
• Manipulate and titrate vasoactive infusions
• Provide bedside monitoring and care coordination
• Communicate with family members regarding patient care and progress
• Maintain overall responsibility for assigned patient care
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia or Compact Multi-State RN license in good standing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days of hire

Education

• RN-Associate's Degree, or
• RN-Bachelor's Degree, or
• RN-Diploma, or
• RN-Master's Degree
