St. Vincent de Paul School seeks a Registered Nurse to provide comprehensive health services to school-age students and staff. In this role, you will assess student health status, provide emergency care and first aid, administer medications and specialized treatments as directed by physicians, and promote health and wellness through education and counseling.
Clinical Setting
You will work in a school-based health services environment, serving students enrolled at St. Vincent de Paul School within the Osseo Area School District.
Responsibilities
- Assess health status and perform first aid, emergency care, and illness interventions according to school district guidelines
- Administer medication and specialized health care treatments to students as directed by physicians and authorized by parents or guardians
- Assess the health and developmental status of school-age students through district health screening programs and facilitate referrals to health care agencies when requested
- Promote and maintain health and well-being of students, families, and school personnel through health teaching and counseling
- Develop Individual Health/Emergency Plans for students with special needs and communicate with families, teachers, and staff regarding development, implementation, and periodic evaluation of these plans
- Prevent and control communicable disease through health status monitoring and implementation of state immunization law
- Participate in staffing meetings regarding students with special needs and contribute to the health component of Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
- Maintain health records on all enrolled students
- Excuse or readmit students for health reasons in accordance with building procedures and county health department exclusion guidelines
- Complete student accident report forms for students requiring doctor attention or resulting in loss of school time
- Train and supervise volunteers and staff involved in health services programs
- Serve as a resource to faculty for health education purposes
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current active RN license in the State of Minnesota
- Current CPR certification
- Basic first aid and health screening skills
- Ability to communicate and foster positive working relationships with students, parents, and staff
- Ability to teach health information to student groups

Schedule
- 14 hours per week

Additional Information
This position is part of the Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses bargaining unit. Salary is based on the respective bargaining unit salary grid, accessible via the Employee Contracts page. Background checks are conducted upon conditional offer, and employees are responsible for the background check fee.
