Registered Nurse - Senior (Cardio MARC)

Join UT Health San Antonio as a Senior Registered Nurse in our Cardio MARC (Cardiovascular Medical Assessment and Referral Center) clinic. In this role, you will provide direct nursing care to patients, demonstrating advanced clinical skills in physical examinations, complex medical testing, and physician support. You will work collaboratively with physicians, schedulers, and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure high-quality patient care and smooth clinic operations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver direct nursing care and perform advanced physical examinations of patients
• Conduct complex medical testing and provide physician interpretations of results
• Administer medications and injections as needed
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during patient treatment and examination
• Lead and mentor lower-level team members
• Ensure efficient clinic flow by working closely with assigned scheduler to coordinate referrals, follow-up appointments, and diagnostic tests
• Triage patient calls and collaborate with call center team members
• Assist with and arrange hospital admissions as needed
• Follow up on diagnostic tests and labs, ensuring results are reported to the medical provider
• Refer patients to appropriate specialists as ordered by physician
• Schedule follow-up appointments, weekly check appointments, and procedure appointments
• Educate patients and family members about their care
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members, both verbally and in writing
• Function within the Texas Nurse Practice Act requirements
• Participate as an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team
• Meet all training and competency requirements
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

• Active Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Advanced clinical skills in patient assessment and medical testing
• Ability to analyze information and use logic to coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team
