The opportunity

Job Description

Join our team as a Registered Nurse specializing in wound care. This full-time position on the day shift offers the opportunity to provide specialized nursing care to wound care patients while contributing to a comprehensive wound care program.

Schedule

  • Full-time, days schedule

Responsibilities

  • Perform patient care within the scope of practice as an RN, maintaining complete and accurate patient records related to assessment, treatments, and documentation of care in a timely manner
  • Assist in the coordination of wound care patients and day-to-day operation of the wound care program
  • Assess wound care patients within policy guidelines, including patient functioning on admission, transfer, and discharge
  • Use professional judgment in problem-solving and decision-making, seeking assistance from the Nurse Manager, Clinical Staff, and peers as needed
  • Assess patient educational needs and develop plans to meet those needs
  • Assess discharge needs and communicate to team members
  • Follow the plan of care in collaboration with the patient care team
  • Review discharge care with patient, family, physician, and other team members
  • Administer medications and treatments according to patient needs, physician orders, and policies consistent with RN scope of care
  • Participate in patient and family conferences as a member of the patient care team
  • Utilize patient teaching to provide new information to patients and families according to policy
  • Collaborate with the Nurse Manager, Clinical Team, physician, and other caregivers to provide effective patient care
  • Document care in appropriate forms and the patient care system in a timely manner
  • Ensure patients and families are aware of team members' roles and introduce the care team on admission
  • Evaluate patient response to treatment using knowledge of disease process and the patient's story
  • Evaluate patient progress on the plan of care and continued learning needs
  • Maintain competencies, continuing education, and certifications appropriate to the position
  • Participate in quality assurance programs as requested by the Clinical Manager and Director of Nursing
  • Participate in the safety program
  • Participate in discussion and review of articles in the field of wound care
  • Demonstrate flexibility in meeting staffing needs of the program
  • Maintain clinical expertise in the area of specialty
  • Participate in performance improvement activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Current RN license to practice in North Carolina
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • One year of nursing experience preferred
  • Working understanding of the codes and regulations that govern the operation of a wound care program

Education

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
