Registered Nurse (RN) Women's Operating Room

Inova Fairfax Medical's Women's Operating Room is seeking an experienced Operating Room RN to join our team. The Women's OR operates eight fully functional, state-of-the-art operating rooms providing care to patients scheduled for General Gynecology, Gynecological Oncology, Urological Gynecology, and Robotic procedures. Additional surgical specialties may include Urology, General, Colorectal, and Plastics. The patient acuity cared for in the Women's OR consists of ambulatory, same-day admission, and inpatient cases, with patients also coming from the Emergency Room, outside facilities, and directly from home or physician's offices.

Schedule

Full-time day shift offering 10-hour or 12-hour shifts. Scheduled shifts are Monday through Friday with minimal call requirements to cover weekday nights, weekends, and Inova-observed holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships
• Formulate individualized plans of care based upon assessment findings and interpret trends in patient populations to achieve best practice
• Support and empower patients and families as they progress through the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end-of-life decisions
• Advocate for patients' rights from the patient and family perspective and provide counsel and act as a resource to resolve issues
• Anticipate ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients and families and assist staff in assessing patients' learning needs

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of direct Operating Room experience as a Registered Nurse
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of nursing. If you hold an ADN, you must complete a BSN within five years of the start date
• Active license as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia
• Basic Life Support certification with American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

• Multi-specialty trained Operating Room nurse
• Completion of AORN's Periop 101 curriculum
