Registered Nurse - RN

Winston Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Turning Point unit. In this role, you will provide direct patient care, administer medications including intravenous therapy, and coordinate with an interdisciplinary treatment team to deliver comprehensive nursing services.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications, including intravenous therapy, and other medical treatments as prescribed by attending physicians
• Complete initial nursing assessments of patients to determine immediate care needs upon admission and develop and implement initial treatment plans within 8 hours of admission
• Participate as a member of the treatment team in planning and implementing therapeutic approaches for individual patients
• Attend patient treatment planning and progress review conferences
• Assess nursing care needs and assist the treatment team in developing and implementing individual treatment plans
• Function as charge nurse and supervisor of staff on assigned shift
• Make rounds with physicians when requested to coordinate patient care
• Manage and assist in training and orientation of new personnel
• Chart patient progress and pertinent data in patient records
• Assume responsibility for drug storage, count, and administration
• Supervise and manage care administered by Mental Health Technicians and CNAs, and ensure completion of unit shift responsibilities
• Lead patient education groups focused on activities of daily living, social skills, illness understanding, and medication compliance
• Use and maintain login and password information for time clock and electronic health record systems

Required Qualifications

• Academic diploma in nursing
• Active Mississippi RN license
• At least six months of experience as a nurse in a healthcare setting, or eligibility for on-the-job training
• Superior knowledge of nursing care principles
• Ability to coordinate nursing plans with attending physician orders and overall treatment plans
