Inova 8095 - Fairfax East is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for Virtual Acute Care to join a team supporting multiple inpatient units through an innovative virtual nursing model. This full-time position offers 36 hours per week with a rotating schedule and the opportunity to work one remote day per week after six months, provided you remain in good standing and adhere to department remote work policies. Clinical Setting
This role supports acute care hospital units including Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, Heart Failure, and Stroke care through virtual care delivery.
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships
- Formulate individualized plans of care based on assessment findings and interpret trends in patient populations to achieve best practice
- Access resources from all disciplines to achieve desired patient outcomes and coordinate healthcare and alternate services for patient and family transition planning
- Document all patient care activities according to documentation standards and assist healthcare team members with documentation
- Evaluate processes to achieve outcomes, anticipate patient variances, and make revisions to plans of care
- Make clinical decisions based on experience, patient population data, and clinical judgment while promoting the development of clinical decision-making in all team members
- Obtain a minimum of six formal contact hours annually and maintain your own continuing education record
- Evaluate clinical and quality outcomes and contribute to performance improvement initiatives
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Schedule and Shifts
This position requires a rotating schedule with four weekend shifts required every six weeks and rotating holidays. You must be able to work any of the following shift types (one shift type per week):
Monday through Friday:
- 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM
- 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM
- 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Weekends:
- 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
- 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM
- 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or Associate's Degree in Nursing. If you hold an Associate's Degree, you must meet with your nurse leader within two years of hire to identify an accredited school, provide a written plan with anticipated BSN completion date, submit a review of transcripts indicating required prerequisites and timeline, and complete your BSN within five years of start date.
- One year of experience as a Registered Nurse in a critical care setting or completion of a critical care fellowship
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association; ACLS certification within six months of hire for critical care units; PALS certification within six months of hire for pediatric units
- Active license or eligibility for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse, or an active multi-state Registered Nurse license
Preferred Qualifications
- Two or more years of recent RN experience in an acute care hospital setting
- Medical/Surgical, Telemetry, Heart Failure, and/or Stroke care experience strongly preferred
- Medical-Surgical Certification
- RN license in Virginia
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Excellent communication skills
- Flexible approach to scheduling and comfort with variety in patient populations and unit assignments
