The opportunity

Job Description

Dartmouth Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Surgical, Trauma ICU (SICU). This is a rotating shift position where you will provide evidence-based, patient-centered care in a dynamic critical care environment. You will work as an autonomous practitioner within the professional nursing framework, utilizing the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care for SICU patients
  • Apply critical thinking to anticipate and recognize changes in patient status, modifying the plan of care or escalating to the care team as necessary
  • Practice in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics, advocating for patients, upholding their autonomy in decision-making, ensuring informed consent, and assisting patients and families in expressing self-determination
  • Actively seek feedback and take action to improve performance
  • Engage in the governance of practice
  • Manage interpersonal relationships and mentor colleagues for the advancement of nursing practice
  • Assume authority and accountability for nursing care while appropriately delegating care elements to team members in accordance with laws, regulations, and organizational policies
  • Prioritize and organize time to optimize patient outcomes
  • Actively seek current evidence and standards, applying and translating them to daily practice
  • Role model a culture of inquiry by contributing to research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice initiatives
  • Communicate effectively in various formats across all areas of practice
  • Partner actively with others to effect positive change through knowledge exchange
  • Precept student nurses, nurse externs, nurse residents, experienced clinical nurses, and other healthcare team members
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program
  • Licensed Registered Nurse with New Hampshire eligibility
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certificate required upon hire
  • ACLS Certificate required within 6 months of hire date

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)

Schedule

  • Rotating shifts
  • 0.90 FTE, 36 hours per week

Compensation and Benefits
