The opportunity

Job Description

AdventHealth is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Surgical Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Altamonte Springs, Florida. This full-time position offers night shift work (7:00 pm - 7:00 am) on a three 12-hour shift schedule with weekend rotation. You will provide comprehensive nursing care to post-surgical and progressive care patients, conducting assessments, developing individualized care plans, administering medications and treatments, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team to optimize patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and lifestyle factors of patients
  • Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs and standards of care, regularly evaluating and revising these plans as necessary
  • Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely, following physician orders and hospital protocols, and monitor for adverse reactions
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatments, medications, and self-care strategies to promote understanding and compliance
  • Collaborate with medical staff and ancillary departments to coordinate and optimize patient care, ensuring effective communication and teamwork
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient information, care activities, interventions, and outcomes in the medical record

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Nursing
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Fluency in English (read, verbal, and written skills)
  • Basic computer skills with ability to navigate Microsoft Windows-based programs
  • EKG competency
  • Organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work as a team player within a unit
  • Effective verbal and written communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use abstract reasoning to assess patients, evaluate interventions, and revise plan of care according to patient outcomes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • One or more years of acute care hospital setting experience

Schedule

  • Full-time, three 12-hour shifts
  • Night shift: 7:00 pm - 7:00 am with weekend rotation
