Registered Nurse (RN) – Surgery Clinic – Jefferson City

MU Health Care is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Surgery Clinic in Jefferson City. This is an on-site position working Monday through Friday, days, providing comprehensive nursing care in a clinic setting. You will assess patient conditions and nursing needs, develop individualized care plans, coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams, and educate patients and families on treatment plans and medications. This role emphasizes patient-centered care, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice.

Clinical Setting

The Surgery Clinic is located at 1705 Christy Drive, Suite 215, Jefferson City, MO 65101. MU Health Care is an academic health system serving mid-Missouri with seven hospitals, including the region's only Level 1 Trauma Center and Children's Hospital, plus over 90 specialty clinics.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient conditions and nursing needs, establish goals, and prescribe appropriate nursing actions to meet physical, psychological, social, and rehabilitative needs
• Assess, intervene, and reassess patient pain using appropriate assessment tools (0-10 numerical scale, FACES, or FLACC)
• Demonstrate knowledge of medications regarding action and side effects; educate patients and significant others about medications
• Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions in accomplishing patient care goals and outcomes
• Maintain standards of nursing care and implement hospital and department policies and procedures
• Participate in meetings, in-services, and quality and performance improvement groups
• Report pertinent observations and reactions regarding patients to appropriate personnel and record observations accurately and concisely
• Provide quality care and work with the multidisciplinary team to ensure high patient satisfaction
• Complete unit and department-specific duties as outlined in department documents

Compensation

• Base pay range: $29.77 - $43.93 per hour, based on experience

Required Qualifications

• Active Missouri Board of Nursing RN license or Nurse Licensure Compact multi-state RN license
• When primary state of residency changes, compact state RNs must apply under new state of residency within thirty (30) days

Preferred Qualifications

• Additional license or certification requirements as determined by the hiring department

Physical Demands

This is a very active position requiring ambulating, reaching, and moving objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs. The role routinely involves contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. The position is in a healthcare facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts, holiday work, and work during inclement weather may be required.
