Registered Nurse (RN) School Nurse

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to serve as a School Nurse. This full-time position offers no weekends, no holidays, and time off during school closings, providing a unique schedule aligned with the academic calendar.

Clinical Setting

Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital is a 295-bed acute care facility located in Somerset, Kentucky, and part of Lifepoint Health, a diversified healthcare delivery network with facilities across 29 states.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to students using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice
• Perform plan of care interventions, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, and other medical care treatment
• Document patient care provided
• Monitor, record, and communicate student condition as appropriate to the care team, physician, student, and family
• Assist students with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation
• Collaborate across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual or psychosocial support needs
• Evaluate learning needs of students and families and provide patient and family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances
• Advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of students

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in nursing
• Current RN license to practice in Kentucky
• Active Kentucky license (single state or compact)
• BCLS certification
• If relocating, licensure must be updated to the new Primary State of Residence before employment begins
