Registered Nurse RN Radiation Oncology

Join HCA Houston Healthcare West as a Registered Nurse in our Radiation Oncology Outpatient department. In this role, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care to oncology patients receiving radiation treatment. You will work collaboratively with medical providers and the care team to provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care while serving as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers.

Clinical Setting

HCA Houston Healthcare West is a full-service, 300+ bed hospital serving the West Houston communities for over 30 years. The facility is recognized as a Certified Primary Stroke Center by the Joint Commission and includes The Woman's Hospital of Texas at West Houston, a three-story cardiac and critical care tower. The Sugar Land Cancer Center, a department of HCA Houston Healthcare West, provides specialized oncology services to the community.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by medical providers and ensure thorough, timely documentation of care in the patient's medical record
• Administer prescribed medications, monitor patients for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended medication response
• Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, translating complex medical terminology to ensure understanding

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Associate Degree in Nursing
• Medical-Surgical nursing experience
• Oncology nursing experience
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
