Mercy Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Clinical Market Float Pool in the Cincinnati market. This is a 36-hour per week position working evenings and nights.
As a float pool RN, you will provide direct patient care across multiple departments and sites within the Cincinnati market based on your assigned tier level. You will assess, analyze, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care following established organizational standards. This role requires flexibility to float based on competency, which may include day-of staffing assignments, multiple assignment locations within a single shift, travel assignments, or seasonal staffing patterns.
Responsibilities
- Assess, analyze, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care following established patient care standards
- Participate as a member of the healthcare team under the direction of a clinical manager or designee
- Demonstrate awareness of and support organizational and departmental goals through participation in continuous quality improvement activities
- Act as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement initiatives
- Incorporate the professional practice model into care delivery
- Plan and coordinate nursing care and clinical decisions using best available evidence
- Formulate and implement individualized plans of care for each patient, including interventions, evaluation of response to interventions, and appropriate documentation
- Perform other job-related duties as required by your supervisor
Float Pool Tiers
You will be hired with the understanding that you must float based on one of the following tiers:
- Tier 1: Float within a single site based on competency
- Tier 2: Float within multiple sites within a single market based on competency
- Tier 3: Float within multiple sites across more than one market based on competency
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Current nursing license in Ohio
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- One year of experience as a Registered Nurse in acute care
Certifications
Based on your specialty assignment, you may be required to obtain and maintain:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record system
