Registered Nurse (RN) - Plastic Surgery & Thoracic Clinics

Denver Health is recruiting a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Plastic Surgery & Thoracic Clinics to provide patient care and education in an outpatient ambulatory care setting. You will work with diverse patients, families, and community members throughout the lifespan, applying evidence-based practices and critical thinking to promote safety and quality outcomes.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the DH Surgical Spec Clinic Pavilion Level, an outpatient ambulatory care environment serving patients in plastic surgery and thoracic specialties.

Responsibilities

• Implement evidence-based care plans in coordination with the healthcare team, developing and modifying patient care and treatment plans based on patient responses and conditions
• Provide safe, appropriate nursing care and patient education in the ambulatory clinic setting, including preoperative teaching, wound care, and other specialized clinic services
• Safely administer medications and treatments as ordered, according to policy
• Collect comprehensive assessment data pertinent to patient situations through face-to-face, video, or telephone encounters
• Assess the needs of individuals, families, and communities to identify potential health or safety problems
• Communicate assessment findings to patients and appropriate healthcare team members
• Partner with patients and the interprofessional healthcare team to review assessments, plan measurable goals and outcomes, and develop strategies for achievement
• Advocate for patients and families in accordance with ANA Code of Ethics and professional practice standards
• Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care
• Support the interdisciplinary healthcare team through supervision, education, and training of clinic team members including medical assistants, educators, and care navigators
• Participate in problem-solving, escalation of patient care issues, outreach to patients and families, and coordination of services and care activities within the clinic and community
• Maintain accurate, detailed reports and records
• Prepare patients for and assist with examinations and treatments
• Analyze assessment data to determine nursing diagnoses
• Direct and supervise less skilled nursing and healthcare personnel
• Promote positive patient experience

Required Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing
• 1-3 years of experience in a direct patient care setting
• Active RN license from Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA)
• BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association
• Completion and achievement of clinical competency standards
• Adherence to ANA Standards of Professional Nursing Practice and accrediting body standards
• Knowledge and applicability of principles of growth and development across the lifespan
• Ability to assess patient data and interpret appropriate cultural information
• Ability to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• Ability to interpret, adapt, and apply guidelines and procedures
• Ability to communicate clearly
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with EPIC documentation system

Schedule

Regular position at 0.8 FTE.

Compensation

$35.55 - $55.09 per hour.
