This position involves the assessment and placement of peripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) using ultrasound and micro-introducers for adult patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. You will work to maintain the facility's defined standard of intravenous care for all patients.
Responsibilities
- Assess and place PICCs using ultrasound and micro-introducers for adult patients
- Facilitate achievement of defined intravenous care standards throughout the facility
- Teach patients and staff about PICC care and management
- Troubleshoot and repair various types of central venous catheters
- Maintain and generate quarterly reports
- Complete established competencies for the position within the designated introductory period
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current Texas State License for Registered Nurse
- Certification in Advanced Peripheral Inserted Central Catheterization
- One year of PICC experience with ultrasound and micro-introducers
- Active healthcare provider Basic Life Support certification on hire (ARC or AHA); must obtain AHA Healthcare Provider BLS within 60 days of hire
