VIC the PICC (VTP) is a specialized vascular access consulting provider serving acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home healthcare agencies throughout the Western and Southern United States. As a Vascular Access Nurse Consultant, you will provide on-site and mobile vascular access support services, including PICC line insertion, midline placement, peripheral IV access, line removal, declotting, port access, and venous access troubleshooting. You will work collaboratively with facility clinical teams to resolve vascular access issues and facilitate treatment objectives. This role offers the opportunity to work in varied clinical settings and observe different treatment protocols, providing a change of pace from traditional floor nursing.

Responsibilities

  • Place PICCs, midlines, and peripheral IVs using ultrasound guidance
  • Utilize ECG technology for PICC tip confirmation
  • Assist with management of PICCs and vascular access devices
  • Provide vascular access support services including port access, line removal, declotting, and troubleshooting
  • Educate facility nursing staff regarding PICCs, midlines, and other central venous access devices
  • Travel to customer facilities to visit patients and fulfill scheduling requirements

Clinical Setting

You will work inside and outside hospital settings depending on individual referrals, providing exposure to diverse treatment protocols and patient populations across multiple healthcare facilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse license
  • American Heart BLS Certification
  • Experience with vascular access device (VAD) management, including care, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Experience placing ultrasound-guided IVs (USGIVs)
  • Ability to work independently and fulfill scheduling requirements
  • Valid driver's license, active auto insurance, and reliable transportation for travel to patient sites
  • Smartphone required

  • Prior vascular access or PICC experience

Training and Experience

Ideal candidates are experienced in both ultrasound-guided IV placements and vascular access device insertions. Training is available in some locations for candidates with recent, consistent USGIV placement experience. Priority is given to fully trained vascular access nurses, but additional training is available for those with strong USGIV skills. Full-time roles include paid training into PICC line insertion for qualified candidates.

Schedule

Full-time positions require three to four days per week, including weekends, and participation in the holiday rotation. Current scheduling needs include evening and night shifts, with available schedules of 12 PM–12 AM or 2 PM–2 AM. Part-time (per diem) positions require a minimum of 4 scheduled shifts per month, including weekends, and participation in the holiday rotation.

Compensation and Benefits

Full-time employees are eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus based on prior vascular access experience. Compensation includes competitive pay with performance-based bonuses.

Benefits for full-time employees include medical, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) match, and paid time off. Company-provided vehicle or mileage reimbursement is available for travel between patient sites. On-call support is available 24/7.

Travel Requirements

Consultants must be willing to travel to customer facilities and possess reliable transportation. A valid driver's license, active auto insurance, and a smartphone are required.
