Job Description

VIC the PICC (VTP) is a specialized healthcare provider offering vascular access consulting services to acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home healthcare agencies throughout the Western and Southern United States. As a Vascular Access Nurse Consultant, you will work collaboratively with customer clinical teams to resolve venous access issues and facilitate treatment objectives. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in diverse clinical settings—both inside and outside hospital environments—observing different treatment protocols and patient challenges. Unlike traditional floor nursing, this position emphasizes quality patient care without the demands of 12-hour shifts or constant patient-to-patient rushing.

Responsibilities

  • Place PICCs, midlines, and peripheral IVs using ultrasound guidance and ECG confirmation
  • Assist with management of PICCs and vascular access devices
  • Provide vascular access support services including port access, line removal, declotting, and device troubleshooting
  • Educate facility nursing staff regarding PICCs, midlines, and central venous access devices (CVADs)

Clinical Setting

You will visit patients across multiple customer facilities, working in acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home healthcare settings. Travel between patient sites is required.

Schedule

Full-time positions require three to four days per week, including weekends, with participation in holiday rotation. Part-time (Per Diem) positions require a minimum of four scheduled shifts per month, including weekends, and participation in holiday rotation.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • American Heart BLS Certification
  • Experience in vascular access device management, including care, maintenance, and troubleshooting
  • Experience placing ultrasound-guided IVs
  • Ability to work independently and fulfill scheduling requirements as indicated by job classification
  • Valid driver's license with active auto insurance and reliable transportation for travel to patient sites
  • Smartphone required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years' experience in acute care
  • Experience with other vascular access device (VAD) placements using ultrasound

Training and Experience

Ideal candidates are experienced in both ultrasound-guided IV (USGIV) placements and vascular access device (VAD) insertions. Training is available in some locations for candidates with recent, consistent USGIV placement experience. Priority is given to fully trained vascular access nurses, though additional training is available for those with strong USGIV skills.

Compensation and Benefits

Full-time employees are eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus based on prior vascular access experience. Compensation includes competitive pay with performance-based bonuses.

Benefits for full-time employees include medical, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k) match; and paid time off. Company-provided vehicle or mileage reimbursement is available for travel between patient sites. All employees receive ongoing education, training, and mentorship, plus 24/7 on-call support.
