Registered Nurse (RN) - Pediatric Infectious Disease/Rheumatology Clinic

Join Advocate Health as a Registered Nurse in our Pediatric Infectious Disease/Rheumatology Clinic. This full-time ambulatory care position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality, patient-centered care to pediatric patients in a modern outpatient setting. You will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, delivering evidence-based nursing care, coordinating comprehensive patient services, and advocating for patient needs while maintaining professional practice standards.

Clinical Setting

This position is located in Advocate Medical Group's outpatient pavilion, which opened in March 2014. The facility features modern, high-tech space and equipment supporting multiple clinical institutes and services. You will provide care in the Pediatric Infectious Disease/Rheumatology Clinic and may travel to the Rheumatology clinic location at 9555 S. 52nd Ave. for coverage as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process
• Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
• Apply evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making in patient care delivery
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
• Lead efforts to create a safe patient environment and optimize patient experience
• Support the continuum of care across outpatient services

Schedule

Full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Travel to the Rheumatology clinic location is required for clinic coverage.

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program
• Active Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of RN experience

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday
• Ability to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies
• Ability to push/pull with 30 pounds of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 pounds with a second person present
• Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures
• Ability to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines
• Ability to perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation if needed
• Potential exposure to chemical and hazardous waste, blood and body fluids, and communicable disease; protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary
• Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient and unit conditions
• Physical Abilities Testing may be required
• Additional department-specific physical requirements may be identified by the nurse leader
