Registered Nurse (RN): Ortho Joint Surgical

Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center in Milwaukee is seeking a Registered Nurse for the 11T Ortho Joint Surgical unit, a 24-bed inpatient private room unit in the Garden Tower. This specialty unit provides post-operative care to orthopedic surgical patients, including those recovering from knee, hip, and shoulder replacements, as well as patients with ear, nose, and throat procedures, artificial airways, and spinal procedures (non-neuro).

Clinical Setting

The 11T unit specializes in post-operative orthopedic and related surgical care. Aurora St. Luke's is Wisconsin's only hospital with a 24/7 on-site heart-care team and has received recognition from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association for cardiac and stroke care performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process
• Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
• Apply evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making in patient care
• Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment and best patient experience
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program
• Active Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in nursing
• Certification in orthopedic nursing, medical-surgical nursing, pain management, palliative care, or geriatrics

Schedule

• 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts
• PM shift: 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM, three shifts per week
• Every third weekend rotation
• 50% holiday rotation
• 6-week self-scheduling

Compensation and Benefits

Experience Level
