The opportunity

Job Description

Avera O'Neill Clinic is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide professional nursing care in a family medicine clinic setting. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering direct patient care, assisting providers with procedures and examinations, and coordinating clinic operations to ensure efficient patient flow and quality outcomes.

Clinical Setting

This position is based at Avera O'Neill Clinic, a family medicine clinic providing outpatient care to diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general nursing care and administer prescribed medications and treatments according to nursing standards
  • Prepare equipment and assist the provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and patient testing
  • Observe, record, and report patient condition and reactions to drugs and treatments to the provider
  • Oversee appointment scheduling, prioritizing emergency situations and maintaining timely patient flow
  • Greet patients, prepare them for physical examination, screen for appropriate information, obtain health history, take vital signs, and document findings in the patient chart
  • Instruct patients in collection of samples and tests
  • Respond to patient phone calls in a timely manner with appropriate input from the physician
  • Educate patients and families about diagnostic processes, medications, nutrition, and health maintenance and wellness
  • Suggest solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints
  • Maintain exam rooms with necessary supplies and materials, ensure cleanliness, and prepare lists of medical supplies needed
  • Assure appropriate labeling of pathology specimens according to lab protocol and perform quality control on all lab testing

Schedule

  • Monday through Friday, day shift
  • 80 hours per 2-week pay period
  • Regular full-time employment

Compensation

Pay range: $22.50 - $41.25 per hour, dependent upon experience and license type.

LPN Pay Scale: $22.50 - $27.00 - $31.50

RN Pay Scale: $27.75 - $34.50 - $41.25

Student Loan Repayment

This position may be eligible for Avera's Student Loan Repayment Program. Eligible employees receive an extra monthly payment of $167 (up to $10,000 total) to help pay down student loan principal balance.

Required Qualifications

  • Active state nursing license (LPN or RN) at time of hire
  • Ability to work the specified hours
  • Adequate visual acuity to perform position duties
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, hear, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds
