The opportunity

Job Description

HCA Florida Northside Hospital is seeking a Registered Nurse OR First Assistant on a PRN basis to provide clinical expertise and support in the operating room. You will work in a 280+ bed facility offering state-of-the-art surgical services, including orthopedics, cardiac care, general surgery, and interventional procedures. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a collaborative surgical team environment.

Clinical Setting

Northside Hospital is a comprehensive surgical facility located in South Pinellas County, Florida, minutes from the Gulf Coast. The hospital is a nationally recognized Comprehensive Stroke Center and Accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI. The facility provides a full range of surgical services including orthopedics, cardiac care, general surgery, interventional stroke care, and spine care.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate the care of intra-operative patients
  • Assist surgeons in operative procedures
  • Maintain and review patients' records, including posting tests and examination results
  • Administer medications in accordance with physician orders

Required Qualifications

  • Active Florida Registered Nurse (RN) or ARNP license in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure. If holding a compact license, an active Florida RN license is required within 60 days of hire.
  • Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Assistant Program by the State of Florida, or Medical School Graduate, or Allied Health professional having completed 2,250 hours of surgical rotation
  • Current Certified First Assistant (CFA) certification with a minimum of 350 completed cases
  • Two years of experience within the last four years
  • Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Critical thinking skills, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication abilities
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions
  • PC skills
