Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room (OR) - Tiffin Hospital

Mercy Health is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Operating Room (OR) at Tiffin Hospital. In this role, you will deliver exceptional nursing care to surgical patients by collaborating with the interdisciplinary surgical team, managing the patient's perioperative experience, and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment throughout the surgical procedure.

Clinical Setting

You will work in an outpatient surgery center operating room environment, providing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. The position requires you to observe surgery and the surgical team from a broad perspective while assisting the team to create and maintain a safe and comfortable environment for the patient.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments
• Determine the priority of the patient's problems and needs
• Implement clinical nursing interventions for acute, critical patients requiring intensive medical care
• Develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes
• Provide pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care, including assessment and discharge instructions
• Manage nursing care of the patient within the OR and coordinate the needs of the surgical team with other care providers
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
• Perform other duties as assigned

Schedule

• 36 scheduled weekly hours
• Days/Nights shifts

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Associate degree or Bachelor degree in Nursing
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• BLS Basic Life Support certification (must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care)

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years of RN experience in a Critical Care Department
• Completion of an OR internship program
• BLS, ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support), or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification at hire
• CNOR (Certified Perioperative Nurse) certification
• SGNA (Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates) certification
• Successful completion of Peri-op 101

Note: ACLS and/or PALS may be required within 6 months based on specific surgical department requirements.
