The opportunity

Job Description

Wellstar is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the Operating Room on a full-time day shift. As an RN Clinical Periop Nurse, you will be a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team providing individualized, high-quality, safe patient care in a clinical environment guided by the WellStar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice standards.

Clinical Setting

You will work in the operating room within an integrated health system in Georgia, practicing under the WellStar Shared Governance Model and supported by Nurse Managers and clinical leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the nursing process (assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence-based practice and critical thinking to ensure individualized patient care
  • Provide relationship-based, patient-centered care adapted to population-specific characteristics and cultural diversity
  • Partner with patients and significant others through appropriate communication methods including bedside shift reports, interdisciplinary rounds, and patient teaching
  • Coordinate delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care promoting the professional care delivery model
  • Participate in interdisciplinary communication, case reviews, and timely documentation
  • Demonstrate teamwork and collaboration in a fiscally responsible manner
  • Support performance improvement initiatives, research utilization, and shared governance activities
  • Complete all initial and ongoing professional competency assessments and required mandatory education
  • Serve as a preceptor and/or mentor for other professional nurses and healthcare team members
  • Promote evidence-based practice and nursing research
  • Participate in protocol and procedure development to achieve best practice outcomes
  • Support efficient and effective use of human and material resources
  • Comply with all WellStar Health System policies, standards of work, code of conduct, and regulatory requirements including The Joint Commission Patient Safety Goals and WellStar safety absolutes

Schedule

  • Full-time, day shift

Required Qualifications

  • Active RN license (Single State or Multi-state Compact)
  • BLS certification (Basic Life Support or American Red Cross Basic Life Support)
  • Completion of an accredited or approved school of nursing with requisite clinical hours
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Basic computer skills and ability to optimize technology to support clinical care
  • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills with excellent customer service abilities
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment and respond to emergencies in a decisive, composed, and respectful manner
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Practice nursing using evidence-based approaches

Education

  • Associate degree in Nursing, Diploma in Nursing, or Bachelor's degree in Nursing (Bachelor's preferred)
