Job Description

Prisma Health is seeking new graduate registered nurses for a Nurse Residency Program in Pediatrics. This position is designed specifically for nurses with less than one year of experience who are ready to build a strong foundation for a successful nursing career.

You will join the Peds School Age - Adolescents unit at Richland Hospital, where you will work under the direct supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse and Clinical Education Team. The residency program blends core clinical training with specialty-specific education, including quality and safety classes, simulation labs, one-on-one skills validation, hands-on learning with clinical mentors, and ongoing professional development.

Cohort Start Date: February 2027

Location: Richland Hospital, Richland

Unit: Peds School Age - Adolescents

Responsibilities

  • Attend all quality and core curriculum classes and actively participate in professional development workshops and peer support groups
  • Successfully complete all clinical competencies and validation requirements of the Nurse Residency Program
  • Collect patient data and complete required forms; identify patient problems and needs; interpret diagnostic results; perform nursing assessments under direct supervision of a licensed RN
  • Develop plans of care based on the nursing process, incorporating input from other disciplines and the patient/family
  • Provide patient care conforming to accepted practice standards; demonstrate understanding of age-related characteristics and needs of pediatric patients; provide discharge teaching
  • Record patient care delivered and any variations with appropriate rationale; implement nursing measures under direct supervision
  • Participate in quality improvement processes and comply with hospital policies and staffing expectations
  • Complete all clinical skills under the direct supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse
  • Adhere to all organizational policies including licensure renewal, assigned training, employee health screenings, time and attendance, dress code, patient confidentiality, infection control, and medication administration

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing
  • Current RN compact/multistate license recognized by the NCSBN Compact State or state licensure in the state where working
  • Must graduate prior to January 1, 2027
  • No previous nursing experience required; candidates with greater than 12 months of experience are not eligible

License and Provisional Status

  • In lieu of full RN licensure upon hire, a temporary license or Graduate Nurse licensure may be accepted upon receipt of diploma, authorization to test, and NCLEX testing date
  • Graduate Nurses may work in provisional status with NCLEX testing date provided prior to hire
  • Graduate Nurses work directly under the licensure of the clinical preceptor in the clinical setting and provide care within the scope of the State Nursing Practice Act provisional status until NCLEX completion with passing score and state licensure
