Registered Nurse (RN) Night 7pm-7:30am

Wyoming Valley Behavioral Health is seeking Registered Nurses (RN) for night shift positions (7pm-7:30am) in our psychiatric facility. This role focuses on providing compassionate, high-quality nursing care to patients experiencing serious mental illness symptoms in a hospital setting. You will work in a trauma-informed care environment, demonstrating clinical expertise in psychiatric nursing while supporting patients' healing and recovery.

Clinical Setting

You will work in a psychiatric hospital facility providing direct patient care to individuals with serious mental health conditions. The environment emphasizes trauma-informed care principles and a healing-centered approach to treatment.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care and assistance to psychiatric patients
• Administer prescribed medications orally and by injection, with knowledge of psychiatric medications and side effects
• Monitor and record vital signs, patient condition, reactions to medications and treatments, and significant incidents
• Prepare and maintain accurate patient medical records documenting nursing observations, medications, treatments, intake and output, vital signs, and other clinical data
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during treatments and examinations
• Change or assist with dressing changes, wound cleaning, and incision care
• Explain procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation and reduce anxiety
• Observe and assess patients' emotional stability and progress
• Record nursing needs on treatment plans to ensure continuity of care
• Prepare patients for discharge and instruct patients and families on continuing care
• Assume charge nurse responsibilities when assigned, including staff scheduling and coordination of patient care activities
• Supervise auxiliary personnel and participate in staff orientation and training
• Maintain knowledge of fire, safety, and disaster procedures
• Report to oncoming nursing staff at shift changes and verify narcotic counts when applicable
• Promote positive relationships among coworkers, other departments, patients, families, and visitors
• Conserve supplies and equipment
• Participate in in-service programs, staff meetings, and professional development activities
• Perform other duties as required to ensure high patient safety standards

Required Qualifications

• State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• Graduate of an accredited Registered School of Nursing

Preferred Qualifications

• Two years of psychiatric nursing experience
• Bachelor's degree in nursing

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts (7pm-7:30am)
• Full-time and part-time positions available
• Weekend availability required
