Registered Nurse (RN) - New Graduate - Surgical Oncology

Join the 9CC Surgical Oncology unit at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center as a Registered Nurse providing high-acuity post-operative care for adult patients undergoing colorectal, urologic, head and neck, and other complex oncologic surgeries. This 40-bed inpatient unit is part of the region's National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. You will deliver comprehensive patient care using evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to support safe, efficient patient flow and create the best patient experience.

Clinical Setting

9CC Surgical Oncology is a 40-bed inpatient unit specializing in post-operative care for adult patients undergoing complex oncologic surgeries. The unit is part of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, an 885-bed tertiary care hospital and key component of a nationally recognized academic health system. The hospital houses the region's only children's hospital, burn center, and Level I adult and pediatric trauma centers, along with a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and clinical centers of excellence in multiple specialties.

Responsibilities

• Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process
• Deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
• Apply evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making in patient care
• Communicate effectively with patients and interdisciplinary teams
• Lead efforts to create the safest patient environment
• Support efficient patient flow within the Comprehensive Cancer Center

Required Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited or approved nursing program
• Active Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association

Schedule

• Full-time position
• 36 hours per week
• 3 x 12-hour shifts
• Night shift schedule

Compensation and Benefits

• Base compensation: $38.20 - $57.30 per hour, based on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and training
