Registered Nurse (RN)- New Graduate Residency Program, Med Surg or ER, Nights

Simmons Veterans Medical Center (SVMC) is seeking Registered Nurses for its nationally accredited New Graduate Residency Program. This comprehensive one-year program is designed to support new nurses in developing clinical knowledge and skills while successfully transitioning into professional nursing practice. You will work in Medical-Surgical or Emergency Department settings on night shifts.

Program Overview

The residency program provides structured support, guidance, and mentorship during your first year of practice. SVMC emphasizes an inclusive, collaborative, and caring work environment focused on safe, empathetic patient care, teamwork, and professional stewardship. The organization maintains shared governance councils where nursing voices directly influence workplace decisions.

Clinical Setting

Positions are available in Medical-Surgical or Emergency Department units.

Schedule

• Night shift: 6pm-6am or 7pm-7am
• Rotating weekends and holidays required
• Full-time employment

Required Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
• Ability to obtain valid Vermont State Registered Nurse licensure by date of employment
• Health Care Provider BLS certification required within 90 days of hire
• ACLS certification required within 90 days of hire
• PALS certification required within 90 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree
• Prior healthcare experience
