Join Aurora Medical Center Grafton as a Registered Nurse in our Progressive Care Unit, a 16-bed unit specializing in cardiothoracic surgery patients, cardiac overflow, stroke, and other high-acuity cases requiring advanced monitoring and intervention. Clinical Setting
Aurora Medical Center Grafton is a 132-bed facility recognized as a leading destination for healthcare. The Progressive Care Unit cares for cardiothoracic surgery patients including those recovering from lobe resections and esophagectomy procedures, as well as cardiac overflow patients, stroke patients, and others requiring higher acuity monitoring and care. The unit is equipped with advanced monitoring capabilities and supports the administration of cardiac drips, insulin drips, and other specialized interventions.
Responsibilities
- Provide and coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures
- Apply evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making to create the safest patient environment and best patient experience
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team
- Respond quickly to changing patient conditions and perform patient safety interventions, including verbal de-escalation and restraints when necessary
Required Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited or approved program in nursing
- Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which you practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association
Certifications
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, twisting, and lifting throughout the workday
- Ability to safely lift up to 35 pounds and perform patient handling tasks, including pushing/pulling up to 30 pounds and assisting with 150-pound sliding transfers
- Functional speech, vision, hearing, touch, and fine motor skills for clinical procedures
- Ability to operate equipment foot controls
- Exposure to blood, body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and hazardous waste; appropriate protective equipment must be used

Schedule
- Full-time position, 0.9 FTE
- Day shift: 0700-1930
- Every fourth weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
- Rotating holiday requirements
- 36 hours per week
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay range: $38.20 - $57.30 per hour
- Base compensation determined by qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and training
